- An exhilarating fusion of movement awaits behind the doors of Riverside Theatres -
Collision is an exhilarating fusion of circus arts, hip hop, breakdancing, and R&B music that is sure to leave audiences awestruck. This unique performance showcases the talents of six young dancers who have clearly dedicated themselves to perfecting their craft. With impressive technical skills, impeccable musicality, and a dash of comedy, Collision is an hour-long celebration of movement, rhythm, and flexibility.
Based out of Brisbane, the performance group dazzles audiences with their sharp hip hop moves, gravity-defying acrobatics, and pure strength. The group is evenly split between hip hop dancers and acrobats and circus performers, creating an unlikely pairing that works seamlessly thanks to their shared passion for movement.
The show seamlessly alternates between hip hop dance numbers and acrobatic and circus performances, breaking away from the traditional circus format and showcasing the modernity of their performance. The music and dance moves are infectious, leaving audiences tapping their toes and cheering, while the acrobats and contortionists receive loud applause and gasps of amazement. Each scene change is marked by the performers shuffling together in time to the music, creating a seamless transition between acts.

Throughout the performance, each of the six performers is given the opportunity to showcase their unique talents in solo performances, but it is when they come together as an ensemble that they truly shine. Whether they are lifting each other off the ground, balancing upside down, or executing multiple backflips, the performers move together as one, showcasing their incredible strength, flexibility, and artistry.
One of the standout moments of Collision is a battle between a b-boy and a contortionist, as they attempt to imitate each other's moves in their own style, highlighting the universality of movement. Another impressive moment is when a performer balances a hoop on her head while changing directions, showcasing her incredible balance and control.
However, the true highlight of the show is when the performers incorporate what looks like a sturdy 1x1 meter board into their performance, using it to flip, dance, and contort their bodies on top of, and gain height to jump over each other. The result is a breathtaking display of strength, agility, and coordination that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats.
Collision is an extraordinary celebration of movement that combines the unlikely pairing of hip hop dance and circus arts to create a show that is both entertaining and awe-inspiring. With its impressive showcase of skills, strength, and artistry, Collision is a must-see performance that will leave audiences smiling, clapping, and cheering for more.
