3 STARS

- For lovers of wine, French accents and storytelling. Bring your own bottle for a top up! -

After collecting your small sample of red wine, enter Le Wine Club with your sommelier Anna Lou Larkin. Sample the wine as you are treated to the age-old profession of wine tasting, coupled with a bout of cabaret storytelling as Anna recounts the mystery of her lover’s death.

Larkin has a penchant for storytelling with a giddy smile and the use of the accordion. With the added beret, it was the whole French experience!

Throughout the story of the wine club that Anna has inherited from her late husband is told to us as she speckles in characters that should be remembered to tell a story of revenge, and wine. If you, like me, enjoy sipping on a good red wine, it’s best to wait until Anna invites you to taste it in order to get the full “Wine Club” experience. Otherwise, you’ll sit there wanting a refill to join in the experience.

Larkin is at her best when singing her tale with the accordion, allowing for pauses in laughter and beats to take hold as you unravel the vengeance underneath Anna’s tale. Whilst there are times when jokes get lost beneath the veil of the rich accent, Larkin brings an experienced hand to the production.

This is for those cabaret lovers who want the full French experience, with a twist of murder and mystery. À votre santé!
